News from Camp

January 2017

New Adventures Ahead! It's a New Year with new changes in store for Buckhorn Camp! Former Directors Ryan and Marieke Culby have moved to Michigan to share their skills and gifts with a United Methodist Camp closer to their family. So we're getting ready to welcome a new Director who will move on site in early Spring. Please keep Camp in your prayers during this time of transition.

In the interim, Jen Burch, a former camp director and staff for the national United Methodist Camp & Retreat Ministry (UMCRM) Association, is holding down the fort. Please give Jen a call if you have questions about your upcoming events, retreats, applying for staff positions, etc.

God's power is displayed in some fierce winter weather - winds and snow are keeping us on our toes in this season of the year.  Meanwhile, construction continues on the new Retreat Lodge. It'll be ready to host guests later this year-- ask us about its progress when you call or visit!

Are you already dreaming of summer season? We understand. Registration is open for summer camp, so sign up now, mark your calendar, and begin counting down the days til you return to the mountaintop.

Ground has been broken and the foundation laid for a new adult and family lodge!  What's that mean?  Camp has awesome facilities for youth, youth groups, schools and even families, but we've been wanting to grow into accommodations that better appeal to adult groups. So - we've picked a site with the most incredible views of the mountains, horsertooth rocks, and the city lights of Fort Collins. There we're creating restful space where people can come together, enjoy God's creation, relax, and find renewal.

Of the new activities we added last summer, paddleboarding tops the charts! We utilized the the larger pond at camp and made trips down to Horsetooth Reservoir.  A few other new hits of the summer included sluice boxing near camp's old mine, a giant culvert slide and the "peanut butter pit."
